In October 2010, Bellaria Igea Marina has been rewarded for its great attention to sport disciplines by the European Parliament in Brussels with the flag and the title of
“European Town of Sport”
’This important award is the result of the strong commitment of the municipality in equipping the city with modern high quality sport facilities, aiming at the integration and creation of a real valuable sport culture.’
The city has got a wide choice of sports facilities, easy to reach, where it is possible to practice all kinds of sport all the year around. Sport facilities are equipped with high quality services and structures.
TENNIS
11 red courts, heated and covered. They are completely surrounded by the green of Bellaria Igea Marina, only a few minutes far from the city centre and hotels, easy to reach by a short walk or by transport.
FOOTBALL AND FIVE-A-SIDE
3 big sport centres are equipped with grass football pitches or with artificial grass pitches from 35mm, illuminated, with big car parking, changing rooms, toilets, deposit, attendant, cleaning and assistance service.
CITY STADIUM and “ENRICO NANNI” SPORT CENTRE
In this stadium matches of Bellaria Calcio, Lega Pro Championship take place. 15.000 square meters car parking, 1.500 seats (stand+stalls). Moreover: athletics tracks (an Olympic six lanes track and springboards for FIDAL activities), gym and volleyball pitch, basketball court.
GOLF
Rimini Golf Club, championship 18 holes course, executive 7 holes course, training course with 150 points. The course stretches along the banks of the Marecchia river, so it is completely surrounded by nature and small lakes. It is also possible to organise a tour of Romagna ‘greens’ playing also in Cesenatico Golf Club, Riviera Golf Club (San Giovanni in Marignano) and Adriatic Golf Club (Cervia - Milano Marittima).
SPORTFISHING
Igea Lake and and “La Valletta” Lake are wonderful places to find a moment of relax surrounded by nature, with wide spaces for sportfishing, they are also equipped with five-a-side pitches and tennis courts, bars, restaurant and pizza restaurant.
PALAZZETTO DELLO SPORT – SPORT STADIUM
100 meters far from Igea Marina center. It has a 800square meters multi-function gym (wood block floor and dividing panel) for volleyball, basketball, workout activities, martial arts, dance. The two adjacent gyms offer changing rooms, toilets, attendant, bar, secretariat. 500 stand seats, 2.000 square meters car parking.
GELSO SPORT
It is a modern, new sport centre in the Gelso Park. 4.000 square meters of sport in perfect contact with nature. Three swimming pools, a 25m pool, a children pool and a diving pool. All the year around it is possible to attend to swimming young and senior courses held by instructors of Italian Swimming Federation: beginners, professional training to pre-competitive level. For adults special water trainings. Watergym, WaterFitness, WaterAerobics. Medical Center and Sport Rehabilitation, medical and physiotherapy consulting rooms. Termarium with whirpool bath, emotional showers, sauna, Turkish bath and relaxing area. Fitness Centre.
